Taking our inspiration from Goya’s Caprichos, a series of prints depicting society’s follies, we came up with a sequence of images derived from the movies of Luis Buñuel. Our aim was to call attention to Buñuel’s debt to Goya (both were born in Aragón) and to emulate Goya’s dark humor as we, like Goya in the Caprichos, set out to provide captions (sometimes clarifying, more often than not confounding) for the images. Buñuel’s movies, we concluded and we aim to show, are constructed by weaving together a series of caprichos, with the follies of the bourgeoisie as their focus.

Enjoy!
